A six-year-old student of an NDMC school in Gole market here was allegedly raped on the school premises.
The incident took place on Thursday and came to light when the child, a second standard student, told her parents on returning home.
Her parents rushed the bleeding child to a hospital, where a medical examination confirmed rape, following which an FIR was lodged against the accused, reportedly an electrician working at the school premises and associated with NDMC.
The accused has been arrested by the police and booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
“6 year old girl raped in a school in Delhi. Strongest action should be taken against culprit who should be hanged within 6 months under the new law,” DCW Chief Swati Maliwal tweeted.
“DCW is issuing notice to Delhi Police and school authority – to ascertain safety measures implemented in the school,” Maliwal said.
