Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal today apprised Union Home Minister, Amit Shah on the prevailing situation in the inter-state border with Mizoram.
Sonowal updated Shah over the telephone regarding the current status, an official source said.
The chief minister had spoken to the Prime Minister’s Office and Union Home Ministry officials yesterday regarding the situation.
He also had a telephonic conversation with his Mizoram counterpart over the situation.
Tension has been prevailing in the Assam-Mizoram border in Lailapur area of Cachar district of Assam where alleged miscreants from Mizoram had burnt houses and shops on Saturday night.
Assam Excise and Forest Minister, Parimal Suklabaidya and top civil and police officials had rushed to the spot yesterday and inspected the situation, assuring protection to the people in the border areas.
