Bhopal: Taking serious note of the recent hooch tragedy in Ujjain divisional headquarters, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday directed removal of the Police Superintendent and Additional SP besides suspension of the City Superintendent of the area, official sources said.
The instruction was issued during a related meeting at the senior politician’s residence.
The Town Inspector and other staff of Kharakuan Police Station have already been suspended after being found prima facie guilty of negligence.
“Initiate uncompromising action against the mafia involved. In fact, a ceaseless state-wide campaign is imperative”, the veteran leader felt.
He solicited inputs from Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Rajesh Kumar Rajora who was assigned the investigation into the Ujjain incident.
“Trade of this type of intoxicants should be stopped irrespective of the circumstances. Ensure that mendicants and other extremely penurious individuals do not consume them. In the context of a minor’s murder in Jabalpur, effective action is called for against criminals”, Chouhan underlined.
Additional Director General (Intelligence) Adarsh Katiyar informed that the accused had been apprehended.
Chief Secretary, Iqbal Singh Bains, Officer on Special Duty in the Chief Minister’s Office Makrand Deuskar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister – Manish Rastogi, Commissioner (Public Relations) S Pandharinath Khade and other bureaucrats were present at the gathering.
Ujjain SP Manoj Kumar Singh has been replaced by Satyendra Kumar Shukla who was hitherto in charge of Shahdol. Singh has been reassigned as Assistant Inspector General, Headquarters. Avadhesh Kumar Goswami – who was serving as SP, Police Training College, Indore has been posted in Shahdol.
