Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Finance Minister Dr Thomas Isaac on Friday said special schemes with the aim of supporting people who are facing economic hardship and poverty due to the COVID pandemic will be announced in the budget.
Talking to news persons here this morning before leaving to the State Assembly for presenting the budget, the minister said the budget will give top priority to welfare schemes.
As the assembly polls are round the corner, the budget is likely to propose many new schemes and projects to increase employment opportunities.
It was earlier reported that welfare pensions will be increased by Rs 100. It is also expected that the budget will propose K-Fon scheme aimed at providing free internet.
This will be the 12th budget to be presented by Dr Thomas Isaac and the final budget of the Pinarayi Vijayan-led Left Government which came to power in 2016.
