‘Special Status’ Not Top Priority at the moment: CM

While the demand for ‘Special Status’ continues to grow in Goa and many hoping that the new government will vigorously pursue the matter with Centre, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has now left them with very little hope from the BJP-led government as he categorically stated that ‘Special Status’ is not on his top priority list at the moment and the issue can be taken over a period of time.

Parrikar asserted that his top priority at the moment is to clean-up Goa – including weeding out corruption, putting traffic and garbage management in place. Thereby indicating that protecting the land of the local Goans is not a priority for the Chief Minister.

While Parrikar tries to dodge the ‘Special Status’ issue and offers lip-service of taking up the issue over a period of time, BJP National President Nitin Gadkari had categorically stated that Goa could not get ‘Special Status’ and also added that Goa can be turned into another Singapore during his last visit to the state. Even the Congress leaders failed to pursue the ‘Special Status’ issue.
