Special team probing Kodakara black money heist case may call actor Suresh Gopi for questioning

Thrissur: Popular Malayalam Film actor Suresh Gopi may be called for questioning by the special team investigating the Kodakara black money heist case, sources indicated.

The police were taking statements from all the leaders who were present in Thrissur at that time, as RSS worker and accused in the case Dharmarajan had reached Thrissur during Assembly election time.

As the special team examines the helicopter trips of BJP leaders, the helicopter journey of Suresh Gopi too will come under the scanner.

BJP State president K Surendran’s private secretary Dipin was questioned today at the police club here.

The police also questioned Lebish, driver of Mr Surendran

The special team is also questioning a CPI(M) worker Rejil of SN Puram, Kodungallur, who had allegedly taken money from one of the accused.

It is suspected that the gang, who escaped after the robbery, sought help from Rejil. He had close contact with Ranjith, one of the accused.

It is learnt that they gave Rs 3 lakh to Rejil for his help.

The highway robbery was brought to light when two of the party workers had lodged a complaint to the police in April that some people had waylaid their vehicle and robbed Rs 3.5 crore.

It is alleged that the money was brought by the party workers to distribute to party candidates.

BJP’s Thrissur unit president K K Aneesh kumar was questioned on Friday.

So far 19 people have been arrested in connection with the case.
