Spike in Covid cases continue in Telangana, records 1,504 fresh positive cases, 5 fatalities

Hyderabad: With 1,504 COVID-19 positive cases recorded till 2000 hours on Wednesday Telangana’s tally of the Novel Coronavirus cases stood at 2,35,656 so far.

The state’s COVID-19 toll has risen to 1,324 with five more deaths reported in the past 24 hours translating into a case fatality rate of 0.56 per cent as against the countrywide death rate of 1.5 per cent, a state health department bulletin said on Thursday.

More than 1,400 patients have recovered from Coronavirus between Tuesday and Wednesday pushing the cumulative number of recoveries in the state to 2,16,353 constituting a recovery rate of 91.80 per cent while the National recovery rate was 90.9 per cent, the bulletin said.

Currently there were 17,979 active cases in the state including 14,938 people in home and institutional isolation.

Of the 41,962 swab samples of people tested to detect the contagious virus in the last 24 hours, the reports of 1,049 swab samples were awaited.

Since the outbreak of Coronavirus, 41,96,958 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, as usual, registered the highest number of 288 new cases, while Medchal Malkajigiri and Ranga Reddy districts reported 118 and 115 new cases respectively.

The remaining cases were contributed from other districts, the bulletin added.
