Sri Ram Sene(SRS), Karnataka-based Hindu rightwing outfit has challenged the recent order of District Magistrate, North Goa, under Section 144 of Cr. P. C. which had banned the entry of its chief Pramod Muthalik and his associates in Goa.
The order was issued on August 20 by North Goa Magistrate banning the entry for 60 days.
In the application filed by Gangadhar Kulkarni, organising secretary of SRS, he has called the blanket ban as unconstitutional and illegal.
He has requested that the order should be suitably modified and it should allow Sene to express its views before the Magistrate and the people through a press conference.
Many organisations including Goa Catholic Association and civil society groups and opposition MLAs have raised their concerns over the plans of SRS to set shops in Goa, which they fear will disrupt the social and communal peace and harmony in the plural society of the State.
