State Law Commission To Go Through 22 Reports On Amendments

The three-member State Law Commission newly constituted by the government would go through all the 22 reports on various amendments to the laws suggested by their predecessors, informed State Law Commission Narendra Sawaikar.

He said that they will go through the reports and try to understand them, and further added that if certain amendments required, they will do it and present it before the state government for approval.

The previous law commission which was headed by Ramakant Khalap, Former Union Minister of State for Law and Judiciary had prepared 22 detailed reports suggesting amendments in the existing state acts like tenancy, land acquisition and others.

It may be recalled that the reports had not been accepted by the then Digambar Kamat-led government, even months after they were formally presented to the Law Department.

Sawaikar informed that the commission would apply its mind on these reports before accepting them and further added that if reports need to be reviewed, the commission would go ahead with that process.
