Srinagar : The Bhartiya Janta Party General Secrtary for Jammu Kashmir, Ashok Koul has said that statehood can be restored only after the gun culture ends.
Speaking to media he said that statehood will be restored only after “gun culture, militancy and killing of innocent people” ends in the region.
Outlook quoted him as saying, “If ending the gun culture takes time, the statehood will also take time.”
Omar Abdullah, the former chief Minister recently said that he will not contest elections if the statehood is not restored.
Last week on Friday, senior Azad met PM Modi in New Delhi and urged that statehood status should be restored to JK followed by Assembly elections.
