Students of Government Primary School at Gaval in Khola village of Canacona Taluka have gone on an indefinite boycott of their classes demanding the immediate posting of a teacher that is awaited since October last year.
It may be recalled that on 5th October 2010, students of the school boycotted the school with their parents supporting them as one of the teacher posted at the school was highly irregular. Following this agitation, the errant teacher was transferred but till date the department has not provided a replacement.
The burden on managing the two classrooms with a total of 31 students has now fallen on a single teacher. The school is left with no teacher when the lone teacher goes on leave or has to go for some official duty including training.
Canacona ADEI Babji Kothulkar tried to pacify the parents and students but to no avail as the parents remained firm on their demand to post the second teacher before they send their wards to the school.
PTA Chairman Ghadu Vaiz said the boycott of classes will continue till the authorities provide the second teacher to the school.
