The State Women’s Commission while demanding an apology from Rohan Sippy for negative portrayal of Goan women in his forthcoming film Dum Maro Dum has also called for banning the movie.
SWC Chairperson Ezilda Sapeco condemned the attempts to portray Goan women as loose characters and termed it a cheap gimmick. She demanded a public apology from the movie’s director Rohan Sippy.
Ms Sapeco has taken umbrage to the movie’s lead actress Bipasha Basu’s dialogue as seen in the promos of the film stating that in Goa liquor is cheap and the women are cheaper.
She warned against taking advantage of Goa’s warm hospitality and twisting it to give a cheap image to the State’s women.
It may be recalled that Nationalist Congress Legislator Micky Pacheco had moved a calling attention motion in the ongoing Assembly session seeking a ban on the movie’s release and had also threatened to move the courts over the issue.
