Three people have been feared dead after tailing stack of a mine collapsed on Friday at Cuddegal in Sanvordem, due to heavy rains.
The incident occurred at about 8.30 pm at the Sociedade Fomento mine when the tailing stack wall which contains aluminium and silica impurities came down. Eye witnesses informed that the number of casualties might be about 10.
The company spokesman informed that they are yet to ascertain the exact number of casualties, but according to primary reports, a mineral dressing engineer, a security guard and another worker were trapped in the huge debris.
Eye witnesses informed that the police had blocked all the roads leading to the site as the heavy rains had made the rescue work difficult.
