Tata Motors unveiled Aria, India’s first four-wheel drive crossover at Majorda, Goa on Thursday. Powered by a 2.2 litre direct injection common rail (DICOR) engine, Aria has a variable turbine technology and its 32-bit electronic control unit (ECU) delivers 140 PS power and 320 Newton Metre (Nm) torque.
The Aria will be available in three models, all with 4×4. The top model Aria Pride placed at Rs 15.57 lakh, mid-level Aria Prestige at Rs 14.57 lakh and the base model Aria Pleasure at Rs 12.98 lakh (prices at ex-showroom, Goa). All these models will be available in eight colours – castelle grey, arctic silver, walnut gold, sardina red, quartz black, pearl white, surf blue, night shade black. The colour options available for interiors are black and plum, black and black and black and beige.
Addressing media persons, Regional product Manager Ravi Mishra said the Aria is a cross between a sports utility vehicle (SUV), a sedan and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).
The 4×4 Aria is equipped with a Torque-on-demand system which enhances all-terrain capabilities and is the first in its segment with an in dash GPS-based navigation system. It also offers advanced safety features like the electronic stability programme (ESP), traction control system (TCS), anti-lock breaking system (ABS), electronic breakforce distribution (EBD) and 6 Airbags for high safety including front and side airbags for passengers in all rows.
It also has additional features like reverse guide camera, in-dash navigation system, driver information system, cruise control and automatic climate control, darkness sensing lights and rain sensing wipers.
