Tata Sky Launches World Screen a Carefully Curated Bouquet of Ad Free Global Content for just Rs. 75 per Month

Tata Sky, India’s leading integrated content distribution platform across DTH and OTT, has launched its newest offering, a carefully handpicked bouquet of international entertainment content.

Our handpicked list includes some of the most popular and critically acclaimed movies and TV shows across the world, a lot of which has never been seen on TV before in India.”


As yet another pioneering initiative by Tata Sky, this would be the first time a DTH platform will provide an ad-free service where subscribers can view select series and movies from across the world, running 24 x 7, where most of the shows have never been available in India on television. The content will be available to subscribers on their TV sets through the STB, Tata Sky Mob App and the web app of Tata Sky. (


Without the need of an additional internet connection, Tata Sky World Screen will be available for all subscribers at just Rs. 75 a month, making it an affordable proposition amongst the category of unique content viewers. This content will not only be available on the large screen but also on devices of the consumers choosing, be it mobile or laptop.


Tata Sky World Screen – The content

Tata Sky World Screen will feature prime content from across geographies and multiple languages (Arabic, Russian, Spanish, Belgium, Israel, Cuba, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Hindi, Swahili, Japanese, Chinese and Korean.) Content which is not in English will have subtitles and some will also be dubbed in English.


The Movies will feature some of the top Hollywood stars and include familiar franchises, along with handpicked international language movies including films renowned for their narrative and cinematic skills telling stories ranging from drama to pure slam-bam, high-octane action replete with brilliant choreography and stunts.


The Drama series will include an exquisite mix of critically acclaimed British, Hebrew, Spanish, Italian and Canadian crime, thriller and noir shows — along with several International series.


So, World Screen will give TATA Sky subscribers access to a rich trove of films and TV series from around the world across a wide breadth of genres, marrying choice with flexibility for them to watch any time of the day on multiple screens – whether on Television, laptop or the mobile device, in a hyper-personal manner.


Amongst the TV Series Box Sets Premieres will be the acclaimed thriller Wallander, Happy Valley, Code 37, Team Chocolate, Prisoners of War and Babylon Berlin. There will also be two movie premieres a month from world cinema. Operation Chromite and Desierto.

World Drama Series

Happy Valley – a BAFTA 2017 winner for Best Drama Series, Best Actor, Best Writer, Happy Valley is the acclaimed 6-part drama about a kidnap plot that goes terribly wrong, and about a young lady, Catherine, who races against time to find the young kidnap victim Ann Gallagher alive. Code 37 –  This Belgian series in Flemish with English Subtitles is a thrilling drama about female detective Hannah Maes who leads a police squad specialized in sexual offenses. A smaller, but important part of the story, is about the private quest of Hannah – she is investigating a past robbery at her home and the subsequent brutal rape of her mother!


Wallander – This highly acclaimed, brilliantly enacted and visually dazzling series is based on the bestselling Swedish crime novels by Henning Mankell and is about existential detective Kurt Wallander. He must battle his own demons as he works to solve a series of bizarre crimes in southern Sweden. This series is made up of four distinct films – each a mysterious journey into murder, deception, and baffling crimes. Follow Inspector Kurt Wallander – a disillusioned everyman – as he struggles against a rising tide of violence in the seemingly sleepy backwaters in and around Ystad in beautiful southern Sweden. Operation Chromite is a 2016 South Korean war drama film directed by John H. Lee and based on the real-life events of the Battle of Inchon starring Liam Neeson, Jung-jae Lee, Beom-su Lee. The Forbidden Kingdom is directed by Rob Minkoff, starting Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Michael Angarano. It is the story of an American teenager who is obsessed with Hong Kong cinema and kung-fu classics makes an extraordinary discovery in a Chinatown pawnshop: the legendary stick weapon of the Chinese sage and warrior, the Monkey King. Automata is a 2014 Spanish-Bulgarian science fiction action film starring Antonio Banderas. The film is directed by Spanish director Gabe Ibáñez and co-written by Ibáñez with Igor Legarreta and Javier Sánchez Donate. Along with Banderas, the film stars Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Melanie Griffith, Dylan McDermott, Robert Forster and Tim McInnerny. Desierto is a 2015 Mexican-French thriller film co-written and directed by Jonás Cuarón. It was produced by Cuarón together with his father Alfonso and his uncle Carlos and distributed by STXfilms. The film stars Gael García Bernal (also executive producer) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. It was shown in the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the Prize of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) for Special Presentations, and was selected as the Mexican entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards but it was not nominated.
