Taxi drivers warn that they would not drive up to Goa Dabolim Airport due to fines imposed

Taxi drivers in Goa on Saturday warned that they would not drive up to departure and arrival gates of Dabolim International Airport in South Goa as they accused a parking contractor of imposing unnecessary fines on them.

Speaking to reporters, All Goa Taxi Union spokesperson Laxman Korgaonkar claimed that Rs 100 was being collected from the taxi drivers who exceeded five-minute parking limit at the airport’s departure and arrival ramp.

“If the fine continues we will drop the passengers or pick them up from the main road. Or the passengers will be made to pay the fines imposed on us.

Sometimes there is a traffic jam for no fault of a taxi driver and yet the fine is imposed,” he said.

Officials of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) were not available for comment.
