Hyderabad: A record turnout of 81.5 percent votes polled in Telangana’s Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly by-poll till 1700 hours on Saturday.
The polling will continue up to 7 PM with Covi-19 patients to be allowed between 6 PM and 7 Pm to cast their vote. The counting will be held on May 2.
No untoward incidents were reported so far and the polling is going on peacefully, police said here.
Over 2.20 lakh voters will decide the fate of the contesting candidates in the by-poll..
Though 41 candidates in the fray, the main contest is between TRS and the congress with a resurgent BJP promising to put up a tough fight.
The bypoll was necessitated following the death of TRS sitting MLA Nomula Narsimhaiah in December last year.
