Goa Police had a breakthrough as 19 year old Snehal Dias arrested by Panjim Police for theft, confessed to the ghastly murder of Naresh Dourado a month back.
It may be recalled that Naresh Dourado, an executive for a cellular company was found brutally murdered with multiple stab wounds in his brother’s flat where he was residing on 2nd August. The kitchen and bathroom of the flat had bloody marks. Naresh Dourado’s mobile phone, laptop and car were missing. The car was subsequently found abandoned at Taleigao.
The murder had shocked Goa and police were constantly asked about progress in the case. In fact, even a page was opened on the social networking site Facebook by Naresh’s friends to demand the arrest of the criminal.
Even as the police were groping in the dark, a breakthrough came when Snehal who was arrested along with two other colleagues by Panjim police in connection with the theft of a two wheeler at Panjim, broke down during interrogation and confessed to the murder.
Incidentally, Snehal was known to Naresh but the police would not disclose the motive behind the murder.
He has now been brought to Vasco Police Station under transfer.
Meanwhile, family members of Naresh Dourado were glad that the murdered has been caught. “My son did not deserve such a cruel death,” said Naresh’s father who broke down upon hearing about Snehal’s arrest.
