Srinagar: Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were killed while two injured when militant opened fire at a naka party in Sopore of Baramulla on Saturday.
Official sources told UNI that militants fired at a security force checkpoint near Ahad Bab crossing in Sopore.
“Five CRPF jawans were critically injured in the attack, out of which three succumbed in a hospital,” sources said.
The deceased have been identified as Head Constable Rajeev Sharma, Constable Parmar Satpal and Constable C B Bakhre.
The militants have managed to escape from the spot while reinforcement rushed to the area and a search operation launched to nab the attackers, sources said.
“Checkpoints have been established within 5 km radius of the spot,” sources said, adding all the vehicles are being checked.
