Dubai appears to be quite a favourite destination of Goan ministers as many of them visited this town of the United Arab Emirates over the past three years.
Besides Education Minister Babush Monserrate whose trip to Dubai got cancelled last week after he was found to be carrying more than permitted currency with him, other ministers who visited Dubai are Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Power Minister Aleixo Sequeira and Home Minister Ravi Naik.
While the Health Minister also visited Japan, Singapore and China on official visit, the Home Minister went to Malaysia on a private visit last year.
Power Minister visited Portugal, France, Germany and Spain on an official trip and also undertook a private trip Portugal, Ireland and Seoul.
PWD Minister Churchill Alemao visited Singapore on an official visit, however, his personal trips were not fully accounted for.
Revenue Minister Jose Philip D’Souza has visited UAE, Thailand, UK, Maccau, Russia and Japan on personal trips. He visited the UAE twice in the last three years.
Sports Minister Babu Azgaonkar has travelled to Portugal and South Africa on official trips, while Urban Development Minister Joaquim Alemao went to the UAE in 2009 on a personal visit.
While Nilkant Halarnkar has visited Russia, Singapore, London, Japan and Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco in the USA after taking over as Tourism Minister, his predecessor had travelled to China, Russia, Singapore, London, Finland, Switzerland and Italy and had a repeat trip to Moscow in 2010.
