Even as the tourism season has come to an end, a shocking incident of three female tourists including one foreigner being molested by two men was reported to the Calangute police station.
Fortunately, the three were spared from further sexual assault thanks to the presence of the Beach Safety Patrol personnel who rushed to the site on hearing cries for help.
The incident occurred on Friday midnight. At around 11:30 pm, five tourists – three Indian females, one Indian male and one foreign female – arrived at Candolim beach.
When the BSP personnel asked the group to exercise caution and return to their rooms given the later hours, they said they would just sit at the beach for a few minutes.
The Indian male along with an Indian female separated from the group while the three females remained at the beach.
Shortly thereafter, the BSP personnel heard cries for help and rushed to the rescue when they found the three women quite shaken up and crying.
They revealed that two Indian men molested them which was also established given the condition of their clothing which was crumpled and also torn.
Though the trio initially lodged a complaint with the Calangute police station, they subsequently withdrew the same.
