Goan Traditional Fair Hawkers Association was permitted to set up stalls for two days along the road in front of the old fish market behind the Margao Municipal building thereby giving them much relief.
Every year, the hawkers used to set up stalls around the Pimpalkatta to sell various items related to Diwali celebrations. The wares included akashkandeels, divyas, decorative lights and even rice flakes (fov) and puffed rice (chirmuleo).
However, this year, the market vendors had objected to them setting up shop in their vicinity at the Pimpalkatta, due to which the Association sought MMC’s permission to erect temporary stalls near the old fish market.
Chief Officer of MMC on Wednesday evening granted them permission to put up their stalls for only two days – Thursday and Friday.
