Even though the All Goa Private Bus Owners Association withdrew their agitation on Friday, the Transport Department has decided to go ahead and punish the owners of the buses that stayed off the road on that day.
The Transport Department had issued quite a number of notices on Friday itself which acted as a catalyst for the association to withdraw its strike.
However, the department has so far identified 150 buses that remained off the road and are in the process of finding out if there were more buses. Beginning from Monday the owners of all the buses that did not ply on Friday will be issued notices.
While most of the buses that remained off the road were from Mapusa and Ponda in South Goa the bus owners did not join the strike, revealed Director of Transport Arun Dessai.
The decision to cancel the permits or not will be taken following the bus owners reply to the notices issued to them.
