Tremors Felt in Sanguem, Not Earthquake Says MeT

Although residents of a few villages in Sanguem Taluka claimed to have experienced mild tremors on Thursday evening causing panic in those areas, the Meteorological Department has ruled out the possibility of any earthquake occurring in the area,
Tremors were experienced twice at 6:40 am and again at 11:05 am in the villages of Uguem, Valkini and Bhati with the intensity being the highest in Uguem.
Bhati Sarpanch Uday Naik while confirming the incident also revealed that empty bottles  in the shelves fell to the ground in his house.

However, the head of Meteorological Department in Goa K V Singh ruled out the possibility of an earthquake claiming that his office has not got any confirmation of the incident.
Besides, while pointing out that loud sounds generally do not accompany an earthquake, he dismissed the claims of Sanguem residents of an earthquake occurring in that region.
