Trump refutes NYT Report on Pence

Washington: US President Donald Trump has refuted the report by the New York Times which claimed that Vice President Mike Pence told him he possessed no powers to challenge the US presidential election results.

Trump called the report by the newspaper ‘fake News’, in a statement circulated by his team he said

“The New York Times report regarding comments Vice President Pence supposedly made to me today is fake news. He never said that. The Vice President and I are in total agreement that the Vice President has the power to act,”

President Trump listed out powers he believes the Vice President possess for challenging the election results

“Our Vice President has several options under the U.S. Constitution. He can decertify the results or send them back to the states for change and certification.
