Tuesday proved terrible for two families in Goa – one in Agonda and the other in Bendwaddo, Sanguem – when their houses were destroyed in fire.
At Agonda in Canacona taluka, fisherman Ravi Khushali Pagui’s house was gutted in a fire causing a loss of around Rs 1,00,000/-.
Fire personnel who rushed to the site could not do much as the partly thatched roof house was totally destroyed. They only succeeded in retrieving one gas cylinder from the house.
The cause of fire is not yet known.
In the other incident at Bendwaddo in Sanguem, Anant Shet Karmalkar’s house was totally destroyed causing loss to the tune of Rs 2,00,000/-
Short circuit is believed to be the cause of the fire in this concrete house situated in a thickly populated area of the town.
