Both the terrorists was affiliated with the Islamic State of J&K. Encounter was broke out in Waghama area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district Tuesday morning.
Police said the two slain terrorists had accompanied Zahid Dass, of ISJK, who was involved in the recent firing incident at Bijbehara, Anantnag in which a CRPF Jawan and a five-year-old boy were killed.
Today’s encounter was the second encounter in last 24-hours in southern Anatnang district. Yesterday, three terrorists including the last surviving militant from Doda district, were killed in Runipora, Anantnag. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir told media that that two slain terrorists along with Zahid were involved in the recent attack on forces in bijbehara.
Acting on a specific tip-off about the presence of terrorists in Bijbheara, joint teams of security forces, Army, police and CRPF launched a cordon early morning today. “When the forces zeroed in on a suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire at the forces triggering an encounter,” an official said, adding that security forces while following the proper Standard Operating Procedure (SoP), performed professionally and in the ensuing gunfight, two terrorists were killed.
The identity of the militants is being ascertained and it is believed that they are locals affiliated with the J&K Islamic State. With the killing of two more terrorists today, the total number of slain terrorists killed this year in Kashmir have reached 128. This month, police said, 48, terrorists were killed alone.
