In two separate narcotic related cases in Pernem, a German national and a person hailing from Jammu and Kashmir were arrested on February 14 for possession of charas and MDMA worth up to Rs 85,000.
Pernem police registered an FIR on February 14, 2011, that at around 10.30pm on the day German national Peter Selchow was caught red-handed by the police in possession of 38 gm of charas and eight grams of MDMA.
The accused, caught with the drugs worth approximately Rs 50,000, was arrested under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for possessing and transporting drugs illegally. The accused was residing at Arambol.
Earlier the same day, the Pernem police caught 23-year-old Rafiz Ganje of Jammu and Kashmir in possession of 204 gm of a blackish substance suspected to be charas. The drug is estimated to be worth around Rs 35,000. The Pernem police found the substance after carrying out a personal search of Ganje on February 14. He was booked under the NDPS Act.
