Margao: The Bhartiya Janata Party Members were seen setting the statue named “Sonia Sena” on fire on Wednesday condemning the arrest of Arnab Goswami.
Slogans like “Sonia Sena murdabad”, “Patrakar tum aage badho hum tumhare sath hai”, “Bharat Mata ki Jai”, Vande Mataram”, “Bhartiya Janta Partycha Vijay aso”, “Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha Partycha Vijay aso” were roared.
BJP General Secretary, Damodar (Damu) Naik was also present in the protest against Shiv Sena Government. He told media that BJP on the behalf of entire Goa condemn the arrest and assault of the journalist. The way Arnab Goswami was dragged through belt and assaulted; the message that has been given through such act by the Maharashtra Government is absolutely condemned. Whatever has been going on is unacceptable. It is the same as Indira Gandhi’s movement. Journalism is one of the pillars of democracy. Journalists dig deep and ask questions to the Government. Journalists have always shown the correct path and direction to the government which has always been welcomed. To solve a problem, a journalist has to go to the roots, it’s his work.
But the same journalist is intimidated, asked questions, not filing an FIR when attacked, keeping him at the police station for twelve hours. What has been showed? Is this British Government?
This is same as British Government where one can never talk or ask questions to the government. No citizen of India will stand this. I have seen and read the tweets of all authorities and everybody has condemned this move of Maharashtra Government. Our Ministers have always answered the questions without being offended.
He concluded by saying, “Arnab Goswami must be appreciated for his work rather he’s manhandled and assaulted. Maharashtra Government must be discarded. This government does not deserve to be in power. We yet again condemn Uddhav Thackrey’s Government and Sonia Gandhi’s Government on the behalf of not only BJP but all citizens of India.”
