Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the prevailing law and order scenario of some of the major cities of the state including Lucknow, Gautam Budh Nagar, Varanasi and Kanpur Nagar.
During the detailed discussions with the Police Commissioners of these cities on Sunday night the CM emphasised that the state government is committed to improve law and order in the state.
The UP CM said that his government would take a zero tolerance policy towards miscreants. Regarding the Police Commissionerate system he said.
“Police commissionerate system in Lucknow and Gautam Budh Nagar have yielded good results. There is effective control over crime. In view of this, this system has also been implemented in Varanasi and Kanpur Nagar,”
He underlined that the Police commissionerate system is a positive change and people should feel this change.
He said that priority should be given to the Safe City project. There is a need for planned action in relation to traffic control, he said.
“The judicial process is an important part of the police commissionerate system. It should be operated effectively. This is a big responsibility. That is why senior officers have been posted in the commission. This needs special attention,” CM said.
He said in view of the need of police officers and other personnel at the commissionerate level, new postings should be done as soon as possible.
There is no shortage of police personnel in any area, he said.
He said the success of the system like IGRS and CM Helpline will be judged on the satisfaction of the complainant. “Complaints should be viewed with full seriousness and sensitivity. The Police Commissionerate can present a role model in this case,” he said.
