Chamoli: With the recovery of one more body from riverbank near Maithana village on Friday, death toll in the Uttarakhand glacier burst mounted to 37.
The information was given by Chamoli District Magistrate (DM) Swati S Bhadoria.
The operation was temporarily halted following a rise in the level of water in the Rishiganga River yesterday.
As many as 168 people are still missing.
Essential items were being distributed in Suki, Lata and Bhalgaun villages that were cut off due to a flash flood in Dhauli Ganga.
A glacier broke in the Tapovan-Reni area of Chamoli District of Uttarakhand on Sunday, leading to massive flooding in Dhauliganga and Alaknanda rivers and damaging houses and the nearby Rishiganga power project.
