Vasco police have strongly opposed the anticipatory bail application filed by Urmila Salgaonkar the main accused in the Vasco food poisoning case that resulted in over 50 students falling sick.
It may be recalled that the students of Murgao High School were rushed to different hospitals as they fell sick after consuming the mid-day meal supplied by Saraswati Self Help Group headed by Urmila.
School authorities found a lizard cooked in the food, which is believed to have caused the illness.
Vasco police while opposing Urmila’s anticipatory bail application said that her custodial interrogation was required given the fact that there were two other similar instances in the past relating to her organization.
The police also pointed out that the offence was of a serious nature as it endangered the lives of people.
