Vasco Rape Case: Court issues notice to Goa Police

Judge Anuja Prabhudesai has issued notice to the Goa Police to appear before her on 18th February at 10 am in connection with the petition filed by the father of the 7 year old Vasco rape victim seeking an F.I.R and immediate arrest of the school headmistress Sharlet Furtado, Class teacher Deesha Kavathankar and head clerk Brazina Godinho for destroying vital and crucial evidence after his daughter was raped.

The father represented by Adv. Aires Rodrigues in his petition to the Children’s Court has sought that the police been directed to register an FIR against the Headmistress, teacher and the head clerk for offences of criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence after the rape.

The 7 year old was raped on 14th January around 10.30 am at Deep Vihar School, in Sada at Vasco where she was studying in the Second standard.  The father in his petition has also sought an F.I.R against the MPT official Suresh Shirwadkar for offering him a draft of Rs 5 lakhs to hush up case.

In his petition the father of the child has submitted to the Children’s Court that though the police had filed an F.I.R after the rape they had failed to carry out any investigation worth the name, so as to apprehend the culprit, who had committed a gross crime against his innocent child.

Further stating that the investigation being conducted by the police was a sham and entirely ineffective, the father has sought that the police be directed to expeditiously investigate and that the Court monitor the investigation so that the perpetrators of the heinous crime are brought to justice.
