Vijai Sardesai wins Fatorda seat with 10375 votes

In what many in the political circles would call a tit-for-tat to the Congress party for denying him a ticket to contest in the Goa Assembly elections even though he has worked in the constituency for the last four and a half years, Vijai Sardesai has come-out victorious and won the Fatorda constituency seat with a whopping 10,375 votes and nearest competitor who was also the favorite to win – sitting BJP MLA Damodar Naik ended up with 8436.

But the absolute shock is in the Congress performance in which the Muslim candidate MK Shaikh was able to secure only 660 votes.

Piedade Noronha of the Trinamool Congress tallied 695 votes and Arthur D’Silva- an independent tallied 1126 votes.

Speaking to a humbled Vijai Sardesai, he said, “My faith has always been with my people in Fatorda and I am very happy that the people have voted for a change.”
