Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane promised to extend and strengthen the 108 services network in the state with four additional ambulances that will be purchased by the government and seven ambulances sponsored. The new ambulances will be commissioned by 18th December 2010, he said while speaking on the second anniversary of the services at a function held at GMC Bambolim.
In just two year of its operation, 108 ERS has attended to 65, 527 emergencies and has saved 5,227 lives. Of the emergencies attended 906 were medical emergencies, 1061 were fire emergencies and 3560 were police emergencies. As many as 4,286 calls were pregnancy related.
Some of the beneficiaries and their relatives were attended and saved by 108 ambulance services also spoke on the occasion highlighting the role of the 108.
Awards were presented for Emergency Medical Techniques to Evet Dias, Madhusudhan rao, K. M. R. Gaonkar, Shri shivkumar Shilpi, Sangita Dharmapurkar, Anup Kuldip Shetkar all staff of the EMRI for saving lives.
A newsletter 2010 to commemorate two years of life saving in Goa by the GVK EMRI 108 services was released on the occasion.
