We have nothing to do with Hindu Nation convention: BJP

Raising serious concerns with the BJP-led government on the on-going Hindu Nation Convention being held in Goa, GoaChronicle.com spoke to BJP-Goa general secretary Narinder Sawaikar who categorically stated that the BJP has nothing to do with the event organised by the Hindu Jangagruti Samaj and Sanathan Sanstha.

“Organisations have the freedom to express their views. We cannot curb their freedom of expression. However, if attempts are being made to disturb the communal harmony of the state of Goa, then the BJP-led government will take serious cognizance of any such attempt.”

When questioned of the intent of the controversial Sri Ram Sena group of setting up a base in Goa  and the utterances of its Chief Pramod Mutalik on the westernization of the women in Goa, Sawaikar said that as far as communal harmony is concerned and protecting the interest of the people of Goa as a government will not hesistate to clamp down on anti-social elements. Even in the past we have done to such anti-social elements.

The Hindu Nation Convention is getting mixed responses with people questioning the government stand in allowing such conferences in the state.
