The police on Thursday recovered the weapons used to kill Sultan Bellary whose headless body was found by the police on the road side at San Jose de Areal on 11th January.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Umesh Gaonkar disclosed that a chopper, koita and a knife were recovered from the river at Dabal Kirlapal in Sanguem and added that accused Sandeep Kalangutkar had revealed the location of the site and a police team took him there to recover the weapons.
All the three weapons were found packed in a bag and thrown in the river near the bridge. Police requisitioned the services of Fire Services to recover the bag.
Mr. Gaonkar said that Sandeep had confessed that he was driving the Maruti Swift vehicle in which Sultan Bellary was abducted from Benaulim and that there were three other persons with him. Police are on the lookout for the other three occupants, he added.
So far nine persons have been arrested with regards to this crime.
