Why has the government kept Reginald out of PAC panel?

The lone Congress MLA from Curtorim Alexio Reginald Lourenco who has been the voice against the double standards of the BJP-led government has been strangely kept out of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) whom against other government-related issues will also be investigating the illegal mining issue in the state.

Interestingly two former Chief Ministers, Pratapsingh Rane and Digambar Kamat who have been indicted in the Justice MB Shah report on the ‘illegal mining scam’ in Goa have been appointed on to the panel, even though the government is expected to file FIRs against both of them.

When GoaChronicle.com spoke to the Curtorim MLA, he stated that it appears that he attempts to expose the double-standards of this government on issues of corruption and illegal mining. His stand against people behind illegal mining and other lobbies are the main reasons behind him being kept out of the PAC.
“It appears that the government fears that I would expose their corrupt practices, that is why I have not been appointed on the PAC,” expressed Lourenco.
