Will try and clear 50 per cent cases: CM

Replying to a question raised on the numerous cases in the Supreme Court, High Court and District Courts by the Opposition Leader Pratapsingh Rane, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar stated in the House that the government will try and clear fifty per cent of the cases in which the government is party too.

So far there are about 1038 cases in the different Courts in which the Goa government is party too. There are about 222 cases in the Supreme Court and 535 cases in the High Court and balance are in different District Courts in the state.

Parrikar further asserted that if need be the government will use the Lok Adalat to settle some of the cases pertaining to Land Acquisition and other issues in order to expedite some of the cases.

He also elucidated that in some cases in the Supreme Court and High Court the Goa government has no role in the cases but has been made a party to the cases by virtue of being the state government.
