Emissaraies working for the prominent builder allegedly embroiled in the Dabolim Airport de-notification scam and some within political circles have been working on getting Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai and Congress Curtorim MLA Alexio Reginald Lourenco to withdraw their much talked-about agitation to re-notify the Dabolim Airport parking land which was scam perpetrated by former Congress ministers and now taken forward by the current BJP government.
GoaChronicle.com has learnt that a Congress MLA known for his extensive connection with the real estate lobby as exposed during the de-notification of the Regional Plan 2011 had approached the Curtorim MLA to withdraw from the agitation and even offered a considerable monetary compensation for his withdrawal.
Sources close to Sardesai have revealed that the strategy used against Sardesai is to spread the message in the political circles that the MLA is doing all this agitation in an attempt to extort money from the developer like the Congress and BJP ministers have alleged done.
Interestingly, GoaChronicle.com has learnt that there is an attempt to reach a compromise that will entail that the concerned parties (government, opposition and builder) will agree to give about 20,000 sqmts for the AAI parking, while the remaining will be allowed to remain with the builder to move ahead with her project. This however, has not yet reached a final decision; since, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar prefers to sell the already de-notified land to AAI at the current market rate.
The question however is whether Sardesai and Lourenco will fall into the trap of later being termed fair-weather politicians or will they ensure that the scam perpetrators are taken to justice; since so far neither has Sardesai nor Lourenco named the ministers involved in the scam; though Lourenco did admit to Congress ministers being involved.
