Workshop On Oratory Skills At Loutolim

Learning is a continuous process and the true learner always looks for avenues to learn from anybody and everybody, said Mr. Aleixo Sequeira, Minister for Power, Environment, Printing and Stationery while addressing the IX standard students of Savior of the World high School, Loutolim at an oratory workshop organized for them by Vision Education Society.

Sequeira who was the chief guest at the function said that by learning to effectively speak in public, they will be able to increase their own self-confidence which will make them more comfortable around other people, including strangers.

“It is important because at some point in life, just about everyone will be required to involve themselves in one type of public speaking or another. Accepting this fact quickly and preparing for it accordingly will help you wind up a step ahead of your competition at school, home, work and around the village”, he said.

Sequeira asked students to be the best. He said being good is not enough in this highly competitive world and that just passing is not enough. He encouraged them to use their hidden skills and to shine in life and offered to bring the best of educational facilities to the students of the school in the near future. 

Mr. Savio Rodrigues, Editor-in-Chief of Goa was the Guest of Honour. He said education is very important for an individual’s success in life and that it provides pupils skills that prepare them physically, mentally and socially for the world of work in later life. Education is major aspect of development of any modern society since if there is a deficit of educated people then society will stop its further progress. Government should pay serious attention to education and support it economically and morally all over the country, he said/

Mrs. Remediana Dias, Chairperson of VES mentioned that VES was formed in 2009 when 12 likeminded individuals came together with different objectives related to education. She mentioned that the primary objective of VES is to set up a Dyslexia Learning Centre in 2015 and a school that provides learning support for pupils with different learning styles.

The workshop was conducted by Mr. Nazareth Fernandes and Mr. Rocson Fernandes. All the participants were given certificates.
