Directorate of Health Services observed the ‘World Tuberculosis Day’ on Thursday with the theme ‘on the move against tuberculosis’.
On this occasion, Goa State TB Control Society’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Pratima Thali presented a report on the state wide achievements of the revised national tuberculosis control programme.
Addressing the gathering, Goa Medical College Dean Dr. V. N Jindal said TB is a dreadful disease, which is become a global worry. He also informed that TB is a curable disease if it is detected and treated in time. He advised the people to cooperate in eliminating the menace of TB and make the state free from TB.
In order to sensitize the masses about the fight to eradicate TB, Directorate of Health Services conducted various activities at its various health centers in the state.
Dr. Jindal also released a souvenir titled ‘On the Move Against Tuberculosis’.
Directorate of Health Services organized essay competition for the staff of community health centers in the state, while an essay competition was organized for anganwadi workers too.
Various competitions were also organized for the students like role play and poster drawing competition for the students of Fine Arts.
