Panjim, Sept 28 (GCNews) If there is a place in India that really celebrates its Tourism, then that place is Goa.
On the occasion of World Tourism Day, Goa Tourism put up a fantabulous show of a variety of programmes and activities all through the day both in North and South Goa.
The day began to the tune of a brass band to set off the festivities at the Paryatan Bhavan in the city.
All through the day, school and college students participated in competitions in elocution, quiz and posters in North Goa and South Goa.
The highlight of the day was the boat cruise for special children from Atma Vishwas School for special children, Tuem, Parsem and Lok Vishwas Pratishthan’s school for special children, Davli, Ponda.
The Hop on Hop off (HOHO) bus rides also enthralled school children during the day. A colourful cultural programme was organized comprising of Goan folk dances and the children also participated in the song and dance sessions.
Earlier, Goa Tourism and India Tourism officials welcomed tourists at the Goa airport, Dabolim and at the KRC Station in Margao. Flowers and sweets were distributed to the arriving tourists. Similarly, World Tourism Day was also celebrated at all Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) Residencies and guests were welcomed with flowers and sweets.
The staff of Goa Tourism both in North and South Goa also celebrated the occasion in their respective zones and in keeping with the theme of Tourism and Digital Transformation.
A three day “Tourism Expo” at Goa Science Centre and Planetarium, Miramar was also inaugurated.
Across the State various cleanliness drives were carried out at tourist locations and hotels also celebrated the day with great enthusiasm.
