Year 2017 saw 12 swine-flu deaths reported in Goa
Twelve deaths were reported due to Swine Flu in Goa in 2017, according to Economic Survey tabled in the state assembly last month.
According to the survey, 1194 samples were tested and of them 260 turned out to be positive.
Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) monitors H1N1 influenza (Swine flu) situation and conducts the surveillance and containment measures through all the peripheral units in the state. Throat swabs of suspected cases of H1N1 are sent for testing to Manipal Centre for Viral Research, Manipal, Karnataka.
However, the survey said that no deaths were registered due to Kyassanur Forest Diseases (KFD). It said 1181 samples were tested and out of them 85 turned out to be positive.
IDSP monitors KFD situation in the state and samples of suspected cases are sent for testing to Manipal Centre for Viral Reasearch, Manipal, Karnataka.
