Around 8 KM away from the city of Ajmer in Rajasthan, in the Kazipura forest, near the Chandpol gate, during an excavation for MNREGA work, 5 hundreds of years old horseshoes, along with other remains were recently found. After this finding, it is being anticipated there are strong chances of the fact that Samrat Prithivi Raj Chauhan’s horse stable was located here. MNREGA Mate Jai Singh, said that on 4th March, excavation was taking place in front of the Chandpol gate to even out the land there.
During the excavation work, the workers discovered horseshoes on the site, along with old broken pots and other utensils, which were buried at the same place again after the land was evened out. The horse shoes were rusty and brittle, and were breaking away even on holding them. Some workers wrapped them up in cloth and took them away. Villagers Kalyan Singh and Prabhu Singh Rawat said that as per their grandfathers and great-grandfathers, here was Samrat Prithvi Raj Chauhan’s soldiers’ front, and a horse-stable was there as well.
Sunil Kumar Chidri, DFO, Forest Department, Ajmer, has said that the information has been received recently , and the administration will be apprised of the workers who are having the horseshoes. On the other hand, Dayanand Gupta from the Ajmer Archaeological Department has said that they have still not received information regarding this matter. He added that if the horseshoes are found to be of historical importance, then the state archaeological department will deal with this at its own level. The Collector’s Office will write regarding the same to the Head Office, after which a team can visit the site and examine the same.
