Harvard University’s Psychology department has found a new way to figure out the suicidal tendency developing in people. The psychologists have already started with their experiment on some people who have reached them. The researchers at Harvard University will use bio-sensor data to understand as to why and in what circumstances, do suicidal thoughts develop inside the mind of a person. For this, they have installed some apps in the mobile phones of a few people and have tied digital bands on their wrists.

Through this, the psychologists will monitor their daily activities. Matthew Knock, a psychologist associated with the ongoing research has said that with this, they will keep an eye on the participants’ activities like moving out of the house and its duration, pulse rate, and the time of its reduction or increase. Sleeping patterns will be monitored with the use of the digital bands, and it will be seen as to how many times their sleep gets broken.

As per the 2019 data of WHO, a suicide is committed every 40 seconds in the world, in each minute, the suicide rate is 1.5, in an hour, 90. In a day, 2160, 65, 700 suicides take place in a month, and in a year, a total of 7 lakh 88 thousand 400 suicides take place.
