In the map of the Shanghai Co-operation Organization countries (SCO), issued by the Russian government, a number of regions being claimed by China and Pakistan as theirs, have been represented as being parts of India. Pakistan and China are also members of the SCO, and Russia has issued this map without paying heed to this, and this is not only a seal in India’s favour, but is also being considered a major shock given to Pak and China.

The map has been issued by Russian government’s news agency, Sputnik, and this is being believed to be an unusual difference in Russia’s stand, as the country has always steered clear of making a statement on POK, and has many times, called the Jammu and Kashmir conflict an ‘internal matter’. As per sources, the founder country of the SCO, Russia, has stamped the real situation with its move.

It is being told that China tried to merge certain Indian regions to its area, attempts at which failed, and Russia’s stance is crucial also because recently, United States Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, in Islamabad, after his visit to POK, labelled it to be independent Kashmir, even though it is India’s share of Kashmir. USA has always said that the Kashmir conflict can be solved with bilateral discussions, but after Blome’s statement, a new conflict has emerged.

Amidst all this, Russia issuing the map has strengthened India’s position further.
