In the USA, more than 5 crore people are suffering from some kind of pain. They are turning to acupuncture, massage, therapy, and medicines but are not getting any respite from their suffering, and some medicines are addictive as well. But now, with recent research conducted by the Duke University, it has been proven that spending some time under a green light can help one get rid of all sorts of pains, and this has been named the ‘green light therapy’.

It is noteworthy that neither this therapy has any adverse effects nor is it addictive. Chief Researcher, Dr Padma Gulur, conducted an experiment on patients with muscular pain. Each day, for two weeks, they were given glasses of different colours to be worn for 4 hours. Some wore blue glasses, while some wore glasses without any colour, and some other wore green ones. After the results were revealed, it was known that those who had worn the green glasses reported reduction in their pain and reduced their dose of painkillers.

Dr Gulur said that the people were so happy with the results of the experiments that they refused to return the green glasses. What happens is that the green light, through some nerves, which control pain, travels from our eyes to the brain. The Melanopsin acid, present in our eyes, gets triggered because of the green light, which sends signals to the area of the brain which controls pain, and when it is triggered, a new way of reducing pain opens up inside the brain.

Arizona University’s doctor, Muhammad Ibrahim, conducted a green light study on patients suffering from migraine. The green light reduced the severe migraine pain by 60%, and muscular pain reduced as well.
