All weather road eases out Chardham Yatra in winters too

Devotees from all across the country have started reaching Uttarakhand for the winter Chardham Yatra, and till now, more than 13 thousand devotees have paid their respects at the winter places of worship. Even though this number does not equal the number of devotees visiting in summertime, but with 90% of the work on the all-weather road being completed, more devotees are expected to reach. Doors of the Chardham are closed during winters, but even in winters, regular worship takes place at the ‘gaddi sthals’.

Devotees can, even during winters, worship their deities at the gaddi sthals. Ajendra Ajay, Badrinath and Kedarnath temple association’s President, said that because of the all-weather road, traveling during winters has become easy as well. Earlier, where roads used to get blocked due to heavy snowfall, the problem has been solved now. Devotees can easily worship their Lord at the temples, and they will not have to face problems of any kind now. All the four Dhams are situated at an altitude of more than 3000 metres above the sea level, and in winters, all the Dhams get covered in more than 10 feet of snow.

Due to extreme winters, since ancient times, the deities of these temples are brought to different places in palanquins.
