The Central Government has raised serious objection against the coverage by news channels, related to the cases of cricketer Rishabh Pant’s car accident or Delhi’s case of a woman being dragged for 14 KMs by a car. The Information Broadcast Ministry said that the coverage by news channels on these issues is poor, sad, and scary. Along with which the ministry also said that the schedule set under the code of laws related to broadcasting should be followed strictly.

The Centre, in its issued suggestions to all the private news channels has said that videos related to incidents like death, photos and videos of injured people, and videos of women, children and old people being beaten, have been telecast by them. Which is resulting in impacting children psychologically, and it is also breaching people’s privacy. It was also said that this kind of reporting affected ‘dignity’.

It was mentioned that the TV channels took the photos and video clips from social media and did not even edit them so that they go along well with the flow of the show. The ministry has issued a strict suggestion stating that the laws of the Cable Television Network should be followed religiously for showcasing incidents of crime, accidents, and violence.
